Katherine O’Brien Photography, who we’ve been fans of for quite some time, introduced us to Jessica and Patrick, a fun, young couple who have lots of style and great taste in music. Originally planning to get married at The Highball, as their day approached they got word it was closing. Luckily, they just happened to be taking engagement photos at Palazzo Lavaca, and decided to have their wedding there, which worked out beautifully for a magical, wintry wedding day. Palazzo Lavaca is absolutely amazing, and we were so excited to film their day there. It’s like an opulent Venetian mansion on the inside, impossible to guess from its unassuming exterior. Like The Highball, Palazzo Lavaca presented the same challenge of shooting on Super 8mm film in very low light. We had the film pushed a stop, and it turned out wonderfully and evocative of a vintage era, and along with the HD video, it highlights Jessica & Patrick’s winter wedding day set to a soundtrack with a subtly glam ’80s feel.
