We are a newlywed couple, Shanna and Michael Pharis, who founded Nostalgia Film (and got married!) in 2010. It was a busy year! We both have a background in and love of film, and during the course of planning our own wedding, we fell in love with the idea of capturing weddings, family memories, and other events on the nostalgic and timeless medium of Super 8 film that we both remember from our childhoods. Michael has been a videographer, video/audio engineer, and has worked in video production for many years with vast technical skills so it was a natural fit. We became inspired to create wedding videography and films that are dreamy and evocative, short-form and documentary, and that rely more on imagery, detail, moments, and emotion than anything heavy-handed. We'd learned a lot through our own experience about what couples might desire for their own wedding video or film, with vintage inspiration in a very modern form.

Michael brings his extensive technical expertise, experience, and education in Radio-Television-Film (The University of Texas) as Nostalgia Film's Director of Photography. He has more than 14 years of professional experience in film and video production and videography and has shot thousands of live events, independent film, music videos and concerts, and weddings as a wedding videographer. He has worked for many companies in A/V production including the Austin City Limits Festival, Discovery Channel, Fox Sports, Longhorn Network, NPR, and many more. Shanna brings her creative eye and background in journalism, design, photography, as well as her passion for weddings to the venture. She fell in love with Super 8 while studying film as an undergrad in the College of Communication at The University of Texas (graduating with degrees in journalism and Czech), and she made her first film on black and white Super 8 film in the late '90s. She has worked in both print and online journalism and web design/development, and currently works as a webmaster in addition to running Nostalgia Film, creating Super 8 wedding films, and helping with video production.

Both Shanna and Michael enjoy the outdoors, SCUBA diving, travel and road trips, their two rescue dogs, and movies. Michael enjoys fishing, gardening, cooking, and riding his bike. Shanna enjoys music, photography, reading, and making jewelry and other crafty pursuits in her spare time.
