We are a husband and wife filmmaking team, Shanna and Michael Pharis, who founded Nostalgia Film (and got married!) in 2010. We both have a background in and passion for film, and during the course of planning our own wedding, we fell in love with the idea of capturing weddings, family memories, and other events on the nostalgic and timeless medium of Super 8 film that we both remember from our childhoods.

Michael has vast video and audio production experience with fifteen plus years in the industry, so it was a natural fit. He brings his extensive technical expertise, experience, and education in Radio-Television-Film (The University of Texas) as Nostalgia Film's Director of Photography. He has professional experience in film, television, and video production and videography and has shot thousands of live events, sporting events, independent film, music videos and concerts, and weddings. He has worked for many companies including the Austin City Limits Festival, Discovery Channel, Fox Sports, Longhorn Network, NPR, Elephant Productions, and many more. Shanna brings her creative eye and background in journalism, design, and photography, as well as her passion for weddings and Super 8 film to Nostalgia Film. She first shot film photography and learned to develop in a darkroom while still in high school and fell in love with Super 8mm film while studying Radio-Television-Film at UT (graduating with degrees in journalism and Czech). She made her first film on B&W Super 8 film and was hooked. She has previously worked in both journalism and web design and development. She runs Nostalgia Film full-time and also makes jewelry in her spare time.
