Looking Back, Looking Forward

Posted on Apr 3, 2021 in photography | 0 comments

Eleven years ago this March, I founded Nostalgia Film, filing my business license and traveling to L.A. for a Super 8mm film boot camp. Those 11 years since have been filled with meeting wonderful couples whom I’ve cherished my time getting to know and create wedding films for them.

In 2016, I met my husband, a talented photographer, and he joined me in film and photography work. We are grateful for the trust that was placed in us and Nostalgia Film to capture once-in-a-lifetime moments and memories while expressing our creativity and collaborating on unique films and photographs that have hopefully stood the test of time.

Then 2020 hit. With the pandemic, the wedding industry was in a tailspin, and I happened to take full-time communication work at about the same time. The result — although unplanned — ended up being a hiatus from taking on new videography and photography work.

As we begin to see the light of hope that the worst of this pandemic is behind us, we’re still deciding how the future of Nostalgia Film will unfold. Thank you for supporting us as we enter this next chapter.

Alexis & Geoff had a photoshoot with us in Hutto, Texas. In a matter of days, they were engaged! While the photos are missing her engagement ring, I love how they capture a couple in love, on the verge of starting their next chapter of life together. Congratulations to Alexis and Geoff!

Layne + Tucker: 15 Year Anniversary Vow Renewal

Posted on Apr 23, 2018 in homepage, photography, portraits, wedding photography, wedding photography, wedding photography | Comments Off on Layne + Tucker: 15 Year Anniversary Vow Renewal

Layne & Tucker have been married 15 years. They originally contacted us about a party in Austin, but over time, that turned into a vow renewal with their family in Vegas. We met up in Austin to capture them at 15 years married. I love their mod outfits, which complimented a few places around town that we ventured together and took photographs.

Congratulations on 15 years Layne & Tucker!

Sara & Gursimran: Marfa, Texas, Love Story Videography | Engagement Photography

Sara and Gursimran recently got married in Dallas. In September of last year, we met them in Marfa to film a love story to show at their wedding and shoot some photography. The couple–she’s a dentist, he’s a chiropractor–loves traveling together, visiting a new part of the States or the world monthly, so Marfa and West Texas was the perfect destination to get off-the-grid and get unique engagement photography and put together a Super 8 and HD story of their love.

Round Top, Texas – Film Photography

Posted on Mar 14, 2017 in Nostalgia Film, photography, travel | Comments Off on Round Top, Texas – Film Photography

Last fall, Victor and I traveled to Round Top, Texas, for a day of antique shopping. I took along 35mm film and an analog camera and captured some fun and colorful finds. We spent the morning at Marburger Farm, then the afternoon and evening combing the fields and exploring the tiny town. I scored a vintage garnet ring, a new-to-us ’50s aqua dinette set, and some cowgirl boots for our daughter. The next morning before heading back to Austin, we stopped into Junk Gypsy World Headquarters to look around and gather up some DIY inspiration of our own (as well as snag their book!).

I thought I’d blog it now, since the next antique weekend is coming at the end of March. For those of you in Austin like us, I highly recommend a day trip or weekend getaway!

Photography Portfolio – Weddings and Portraits

Posted on Feb 23, 2017 in photography, portraits, wedding photography, wedding photography, wedding photography | Comments Off on Photography Portfolio – Weddings and Portraits

I’ve been working on making over this site a little bit and using a new plug-in for our photography portfolio. Expect to see a lot more in the coming weeks, but we have a selection online from weddings and portrait sessions. We’d love to photograph your wedding or an upcoming family or engagement shoot. Photo shoots are particularly sweet this time of year as mother nature lays out a blanket of bluebonnets. See some of our favorite photos below, and as always, contact us if you need a photographer or videographer.
